Welcome to Southern Connections — I’m so glad you found your way here.

I grew up in Louisiana and Texas, deeply rooted in the culture, food, and storytelling traditions of the American South. But I was lucky to have parents who believed that the best education happened on the road. From an early age, they packed up the car and took us all over the United States, planting in me a lifelong love of travel, history, and the stories that places hold.

My family tree runs deep into the colonial era of North America. I have ancestors who came to this continent from Britain, France, the Principality of Liège, the Kingdom of Ndongo, and some who later traveled to New Spain to become Spanish citizens. — all arriving centuries ago, leaving traces in census records, church registers, land grants, and faded letters. Untangling those threads has been one of the great joys of my life.

I caught the genealogy bug in my twenties and have never looked back. What started as simple curiosity about surnames and family stories grew into a genuine passion for research and historical methodology. Over the years, I’ve invested in that passion — attending genealogical institutes, seminars, and courses to sharpen my skills and stay current with best practices in the field.
